early concepts

After filtering down different ideas generated in those brainstorm sessions, I have talked to Kristofer Vahlstrom and Kent Lindbergh. Kristofer has done his degree project about indoor navigation, and Kent has done a great project to help library browsing for visually impaired using RFID. They gave me lots of input and shared their thoughts with me.

I categorize them to evaluate and compare. The judgment process is mostly done by discussion and subjective evaluation, so it is by no means a scientific approach, but works at this stage. After the first round of filtration, there were 3 paths to choose from.

1, A sophisticated mapping system with haptic display.

2, An intelligent environment based on ubiquitous computing.

3, A simple wearable device that only offers basic navigation instructions via non-visual channels.
