interview pt2
Mon, March 2, 2009 at 18:39 With the help of Elisabeth, a staff working in DHR office in Umea, I went to the cinema with a colleague student Ceren.
It was a ordinary movie, but we were there not for the movie. There's a service here, which provides narration of the movie to visually impaired people. The narrator would introduce the movie briefly before it starts, and people who needs this service would get a pair of headphone. The narrator then would tell what's going on on the screen, like telling a story.
I was curious why they have a real narrator here instead of using pre-recorded tracks. The answer is not only about technical difficulties and cost (but they're an important aspect), but also the "live" feeling. It's like comparing attending a concert and listening to CD at home.
That is the most intriguing part of the day, I think. It is that connection between people that moved me.
